The Wisdom Tooth Extraction Process

A thorough examination of your teen’s mouth (or yours) will occur to determine the position of each wisdom tooth. If these teeth have partially erupted, we will use designated instruments to help dislodge them from their sockets. This includes lifting each tooth and gently rocking it back and forth. If the teeth appear under the gumline, though, a surgical procedure must occur instead. Once local anesthesia is administered, a small opening in the gums will expose the underlying tooth, allowing us to remove it in sections so that we don’t cause more harm to the bone.

IV Sedation Available

Because wisdom tooth extraction can often be an extensive procedure, IV sedation is available! This potent sedative is administered directly into the patient’s bloodstream, which allows them to enter a deep state of relaxation that helps them stay fully at ease throughout the process.
